The mineralized body of Campiano, consisting of massive pyrite and local concentrations of Cu-Pb-Zn sulfides, which is also situated in proximity (north) of the Boccheggiano fault. The mine - often classified as part of the Boccheggiano vein - started officially in 1983 and it has been one of the most important; it was closed in 2003/4.
Campiano, a small village, is 7/8 km far from Montieri and close to Boccheggiano, another village famous for mine activity

Anhydrite
White and semitransparent XX, up to 2cm, on pyrite mineralized matrix
13x8.5cm
Campiano mine, Grosseto. Italy
Specimen n.19

Anhydrite
Group of tabular XX, edge max 4cm, partially covered by small sugar-like XX of calcite
12x10cm
Campiano mine, Grosseto. Italy
Specimen n.18

Anhydrite
White XX, up to 0.9cm long, with fluorite (a X with cube face visible on the right, but a lot of XX in the 4th photo) and some siderite
10x19cm
Campiano mine, Grosseto. Italy
Specimen n.474

4th photo: a side with fluorite

Anhydrite
Transparent small XX, contrasting and gently posted on a white gypsum matrix, with very small XX of brown ankerite. Very fine piece in my opinion
12x13cm
Campiano mine, Grosseto. Italy
Specimen n.1614

Calcite
Scalenohedral XX up to 2cm on pyrite-rich matrix, with minor ankerite (or dolomite?)
7x8cm
Campiano mine, Grosseto. Italy
Specimen n.124

Calcite
Scalenohedrons of calcite, not cleaned and covered by a pale brown/yellow deposit; the XX are long up to 1.7cm and posted on a white quartz matrix, with a fine contrast
11x10cm
Campiano mine, Grosseto. Italy
Specimen n.130

Calcite
Big XX of calcite (edge up to 4 cm), unusually pink colored. The scalenohedrons  are covered by cream ankerite small XX, parallel and well oriented (epitaxy?). Calcite is on a pyrite base
6x5cm
Campiano mine, Grosseto. Italy
Specimen n.522

Calcite
Small scalenohedron, up to 0.4cm long, scattered on matrix rich in pyrite, with some sulphur XX
5x7cm
Campiano mine, Grosseto. Italy
Specimen n.133

Calcite
"Pineapple" calcite: group of XX grown together, on cubic pyrite
5x6cm
Campiano mine, Grosseto. Italy
Specimen n.204

Fluorite
Transparent-water colorless modified cube (cube + rhombododecaedron) 0.8cm long, on quartz, with calcite. This kind of fluorite was common in the Campiano mine
5x4cm
Campiano mine, Grosseto. Italy
Specimen n.78

Fluorite
Another piece with colorless modified cubes,  like the n.78 specimen (edge: 0.7cm long), on quartz, with calcite
5x4cm
Campiano mine, Grosseto. Italy
Specimen n.22

2nd photo: entire specimen

Fluorite
Fluorite X, with a sort of stepped cubic habit: it is another look of the "modified cube" of previous picture, a combination of cube and dodecahedron, with stepped corner.
It is a detail of a piece with some Fluorite XX, deposited on a quartz matrix. Amongst fluorite and quartz there are some small anhydrite white XX and some dolomite. In my opinion, very nice piece
18,5x8cm
Campiano mine, Grosseto. Italy
Specimen n.25

Fluorite
Cubic-dodecahedral XX of fluorite, on quartz, with anhydrite and dolomite. It is a piece similar to the previous one
20x14cm
Campiano mine, Grosseto. Italy
Specimen n.104

Gypsum
Bundle of fragile acicular orange XX, closely pleached
12x8.5cm

Quartz
Another scepter, with skeletal appearance, 3.5 cm long
5x3cm
Campiano mine, Grosseto. Italy
Specimen n.285

Quartz
XX max 4cm, covered by small XX of gray quartz , with tabular XX of white anydrithe. On the specimen some XX (intergrowing of cubes) of white transparent fluorite. It is a typical old sample from Campiano mine
20x15cm
